The Story So Far…
Born in the fire of the early 2000’s New Bedford, MA metal scene, Verscythe was spawned from another local band named Kreagen.
in 2009, Kreagen disbanded and took a hiatus but, in 2011 vocalist Justin St. Pierre, guitarist Chris reed, bassist Jack St. Pierre and drummer Kevin Camille started playing again. Chris brought his friend and fellow guitarist, Jeff Rull into the fold and it didn’t take long for this quintet to bond and realize they had something special.
Now they needed a name. Jeff, being into numerology, was able to take the birthdays of each band member and work the math to come up with two words that the numbers were associated with, verse and sickle. They changed the word sickle to scythe and merged the two words together to form Verscythe.
In 2013, the debut album “A Time Will Come” was released and over the next few years, Verscythe played all over New England in support of the album while also writing new material for the next. Unfortunately, some tragedies and other hurdles delayed the recording of the second album. One of the hurdles being when in 2019, original members Kevin Camille and Jack St. Pierre left the band leaving a void.
A new chapter began for Verscythe with the additions of drummer Myles Lucier (who previously played drums in bands “Reflections of Mortality” and “Acala” among others with Chris Reed) and bassist Mike Moreira (who previously played bass in an Iron Maiden Tribute band “Absolute Eddie” with Justin St. Pierre). With the new lineup, work on the second album could finally begin.
In late 2023, drum tracks were being recorded, and Chris was adding new equipment to his home studio in preparation for recording all the other instruments, vocals, and also for the final mixing of the album.
In May 2025, after much blood, sweat, and tears, “La Deuxieme Hantise” (The Second Haunting) was finally released. The album was a lot of hard work, and we are extremely proud of it, hope you like it, and can’t wait to see you at the next show!
